AMERICA!!! RED, WHITE, & BLUE

Just a quick craft I worked on for my door.  I know, I am all into the Quilt look. 

What can I say, nostalgia has set in as I realize my girls are grown
and they don't need  me to tuck them in with their favorite quilts. 

My grandson will get that special quilt in my closet when the time comes 

for tuckin' while at Grandma's & Grandpa's house. 

This will be a craft that will hang on my door this year.
Can't believe I got it put together in just a ten hour One & A half hours, usually takes 
longer just for me to plan. I kept this simple and easy. 

I will probably add another banner at the bottom for next year.
But, I have many projects to work on before Convention...

...OH Yes. Close To My Heart Convention. I leave in 11 days and 11 hours give 

or take a few minutes.  EXCITED.

Just a Crafty Day - Quilt Card and Beads on a card for a Groom to the Bride

My phone is missing in action...so I decided to play
with paper scraps and see what I could come up with. 
I knew I wanted to do a Quilt Card. A friend had mentioned she 
thought that would be something she would like to give some one.
Thought I better teach myself before I try to tell someone else how to do it.
I searched a few sites and found Jenna with her tutorial. It was a good tutorial.
I have played around with colors and a few designs
in my scraps that would work together.

Here is the First card I came up with.

This is made from all scrap papers.

The stamped edging is from Close To My Heart's Roxie WOG stamp set

The card base is a textured light pink cardstock,

1st layer is CTMH White Daisy cardstock

2nd layer is a textured dark purple cardstock

The Quilted layer has the following

2 designed and 3 plain card stock papers 

in White, md. Pink, & dk. Purple

I used my handy 3/4 square punch from CM

There were 8 squares from each paper strip.

5 strips of paper total. You end up with 40 squares but, you won't use all 40. 

Depending on what color you decide to cut at a diagonal will depend on the amount of squares used.

Love Your Layout: June 2012

I got the opportunity to really work with the Studio J. 

(Online Scrapbooking with CLOSE TO MY HEART).

I am absolutely in love with it. 

Can't believe I haven't tried this sooner.

 Here is just one video of the many things you can do. 

You never have to load a program in your computer. 

Just load your pictures, go through and pick 

your kit, pattern, and the kit mix.

So many ways to set up your two 12x12 pages. AND, 

there are many papers to pick from not

available in the traditional paper packs in the IDEA BOOK. 

There are even some of your favorite paper packs 

from IDEA BOOKS from years past. 

I can't wait to get my Studio J's from Convention to see 
the finished project.

Challenge with A Happy Mistake!!

Oh Yes, I Did a Card...Hooray me!!!...

Well my card started out simple and plain and a mistake turned 

into a Happy mistake. It's so COOOL!!!

As I did my masking to ink in my squares with just the right colors to match some scrap papers I had left from the Wings paper pack, I spotted my last wooden butterfly and thought, "I'll use it and rub ink on to it as well."

I add my papers & ribbon, then I decide the butterfly is too plain. So I decided to make it shiny by adding liquid glass to it. All was going well and looked fine. But, I am impatient today and thought....Lets heat it up and dry it faster.... Well, that process was going real well. I had the lowest setting and was just letting it take it's time, waving the heat gun around. no bubbles or other problems. Began talking to daughter, needless to say, I wasn't paying attention and I let it get too hot...

....OHOOOO NO!!! a huge bubble and not just one but two huge 

blow up looking bubbles (if you can imagine that in your head-looked like someone 

was blowing a blue green bubble).

   

I took the heat away..bubbles went down, but now there was a strange look to it...I thought, well it's ruined let's see what happens when I heat it more....Big bubbles are back..kinda neat lookin' and now' it's funny. As I am playin' with this butterfly bubble and I have let the bubbles subside and cool...WOW It looks cool. So I have used my mishap as a center point on my card.  Hope you like.

Small wooden letters from Paper Studio (left over from his baby book I made 

when he was born). These were a very light blue and I altered them. 

Laid letters face down on the ink pad and made sure the ink covered heavily, then applied 

the clear embossing powder by spooning powder over the letter.

(Held letters with a tweezer). 

Then used the heat gun on a low setting until the powder reacted and turned shiny.
