Canvas Art Workshop and my Progress on a craft room downsizing...

Awesome way to add a cherished piece of art work to your home decor. I can't wait to get my room finished so I can begin a few of these projects. I have many ideas floating in my head. I hope this video can help you plan out something wonderful to make for your home or for a great gift to give someone special. The Canvas Workshop on the Go is awesome. It includes most of what you need to do the project. You will have to add your ink, your adhesive, and of course your picture.

Thank you again for stopping by. Hope you have enjoyed this information.

FAMILY NEWS!!
I am only in day two of the reconstructing of my room.  Needless to say I am beat. I have a plan to use one whole side of my wall for my new area and I pray that this will work and still keep harmony in this room. The Ikea full floor and wall shelving should help but, this downsizing a  full craft room is not going to be easy. I am hoping to truly be able to have all the things I use daily within reach and am looking for new ways to store and display my other occasionally used items.
Wish me luck. I am going to have to take a break on day three. Lupus does not like all this work I am doing and beginning to really hurt. Thankfully I have help moving the big stuff on day 4. Once I have the area together, I hope to share some storage tricks and tips I have learned or borrowed along this new journey. I have a few more pre-scheduled blogs coming your way while I am occupied with life...LOL!!
In the meantime, Have a wonderful crafty time and enjoy the little things in life.  Link to the beginning story HERE.

Family News, and a cool video showing a technique using the free Cricut® Craft Room

Hello everyone,
Hope you have had a wonderful start to your week. Ours was laid back for a Presidents Day holiday. Shared some fun moments teaching my grandson colors, numbers, and shapes...Such a smart little guy. Aren't all grand-kids smart?

By the time this airs, I will be knee deep in beginning the reconstructing and combining of my bedroom and parts of my craft room. Those who do not know, I am turning my craft room into a room for my grandson. He and his mom will be with us for a while. She has had to make a drastic change in her life for the better. I truly would not have it any other way. I know she and my grandson are safe here. She will hopefully get to enter into the aircraft mechanics school by the fall.  I will miss my craft room but, I love seeing my grandson on a daily bases and knowing he has his own room will be a better adjustment for us all.
That being said, anyone who knows combining 2 different life styles and  n adult child who has to come home can be a stressful event for all parties involved. Just a few prayers each day for our family will be welcomed. Thank you in advance.

NOW, onto this cool information for my crafty friends.

I will surely be using my Cricut Craft Room more for future projects. It is very easy to use the Cricut Craft Room. I have used it in the past but not to this degree. Monica shows step by step how to do layering in the Cricut Craft Room. I can see a number of projects in my future using this technique.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Hope you have had a moment to browse through and comment on any of my projects.  If you would like more product information you may visit my website at www.ohmyscraps.ctmh.com   OR, If you would like the NEW 2013 Idea Book..Leave me a message below for a way for me to contact you and be able to mail one out your way.

More Cards and My Craft & Pass It On Randomly

I am well on my way with my card making for 2013....I have already made 18 cards and most of them in the last 5 days. I am impressing my self. I went from making a card when necessary to a few in a stash box. So far a couple of Thank You's, a Birthday, a Thinking of You, and loads of Valentine's. Now I am playing around with front layers that I can have on hand to add to upcoming cards I may need. I will post cards on my Cards tab above...I won't bore everyone with every card I make unless I learn a new technique or I feel it's just awesome. (May not be many in the later.)
 I took a break from the Valentine's projects...Can only take so much red, pinks and so on. I made two Thankful Friend cards that I will send out randomly at some point this year as part of the Craft & Pass It On I signed up for in 2012.  That may not be the right title, but It works for me.
Just a nice surprise for someone to receive a little something in the mail, co workers desk, or at their door unexpectedly. Could be someone you know or a complete stranger. I hope you will incorporate a Craft & Pass It On in your journey this year. It feels good to give without expecting anything in return.
Here I used one of the front layers I made with...
my scraps from my stash bin. This is a star-burst and I got inspiration from
another blogger..which at the moment...the name has escaped my brain.
As soon as I find it I will share it with you. Pretty good tutorial.
Below, I stamped the inside with one of my favorite friendship sayings.
Inside Sentiment: Find Your Style-D1452-Retired
(I have one extra set never used, If interested comment below
with a way for me to contact you and I'll give you more details.)

This card will be to someone I know whom I hardly get to see, but we seem to always catch up with each other at the most random times through facebook. Facebook is awesome to help keep people connected but, it's not enough and I feel sometimes we use it as a substitute because we fill up or time with so many projects/events/etc., that we are forgetting to take a day or even an hour and just physically visit with friends and family. I am just as guilty as the next person.
Well, I am slowly changing that. I have already made plans to at least have a morning coffee/tea date with one of my friends. Schedules are tight so we have opted for at least a 30 min. planned chat and dash. What ever works I am good to go...At least we are attempting to physically see each other. It's been several months and phone/facebook/text is just not enough.

Valentines day is just a few days away. I hope everyone has a wonderful friend to share a sweet day with. For me, hubby and I will have a dinner with a few family members. We try to celebrate a special day each month. Why wait 'til Valentine's Day. Though it is fun to have one very special sweet hearts day each year.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see your crafty comments.

Matchbook Valentine~Sweet Friend Cards

I made several of these today. I have seen these a lot, but never made them. Killing three birds with one stone...quick little happy's for a few friends, attempting to make cards, and using up more scraps.  My Scrap tote will eventually dwindle.....I can do it, I can do it, I can do it....as I look over at the overwhelming amount of Scraps. Whew!!! Just a few more Valentine projects on my too do list and I am done in for this month...or am I?  Who knows what my craft twitchy hand may decide to tackle next. Here they are...There were more, but I already gave those out at a meeting tonight.
Used 98% CTMH products I had in my paper scraps bin & bling stash.

 I love the shape of the heart and the colors associated with this day.  I had already added this card to my Cards tab above last night, but was not able to add to my main page...didn't want hubby seeing it. So here it is and with tools, and detailed instructions. I did not have any to go by so I was winging this one all the way. I did change a few things from the original...Never stick to the plan....that would be me all the way. LOL!!   I am an individualist.....LOL!!!

I cased the card from Pinterest (love that site), The Serendipitous Stamper. Got some cute items over there.
You can find the original card on my Pinterest board ~ Valentine Loves.

                      My Version                             My Inspiration from Ellen Taylor
 Once again I used left over papers from other projects. The red I had was not as dark as I wanted so I daubed the edges in my vineyard berry ink and also an entire half sheet I had left so that my little squares
and my hearts would match up.
 My Great and wonderful friend will love this part.....I daubed my edges very wide. (I usually do thin daubing.) I rubbed it in deeply as you can see in the pics here. I did cover both front and back edges. I will put some left over B&T (background & design papers) on the back of this card and
add my Made Just For You stamp..

I used black card stock for the first layer base on the front. The B&T paper is from my Bliss paper pack & Wings paper pack. (both are retired)
Striped paper scraps, this should be ribbon (I am out of thick ribbon). I have edged all papers with the vineyard berry ink.
Materials used are Close To My Heart unless stated other wise:
Papers: Tulip C.S., Black C.S., Bliss paper in the grey floral, Wings paper in the red black flourish,
Striped strip-Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby

Pin Tip Tweezers, Bone FolderArt Philosophy Cricut Cartridge,
7/8 Decorative Square Creative Memories Paper Punch

Black card stock:
1 Layer - 5.25" x 4.25",
4 squares - 1.25" x 1.25",
1 Rectangle - 2.75" x 1.75",
1 oval - 1.75" cut from CTMH A.P. Cricut Cartridge-pg 32

Wings B&T Paper:
1 layer - 2.5" x 1.5"

Bliss B&T Paper:
1 Layer -5" x 4",
4 Squares - 7/8 CM Decorative Square paper punch
1 Oval - 1.5" cut from CTMH A.P. Cricut Cartridge-pg 32
1 Large Heart  - 3.5"  (save the negative cut-will be using for inside card)
   (envelope on card) cut from CTMH A.P. Cricut Cartridge-pg 26

  1. Adhere your Grey B&T layer onto the Black Layer.
  2. Adhere your 4 black squares to the outer corners lining up with the black base on top and sides, then center & adhere your 4 red squares onto the black squares.
  3. Cut a v shape from the striped paper. Now center between Squares & adhere the striped strip folding the excess over the top of the black layer. (I left about a 1/4" from the bottom of the grey layer.)
  4. Center  & adhere the wings B&T onto black rectangle. (you may apply the glitter glitz gel while you are doing other things before adding to the base card...let dry or use a heat gun to help it dry, do be careful to not burn it.)
  5. Stamp the inside card image off center to the right. (Leave room to use negative heart shape to rub ink  around your outer image and to stamp your sentiment to the left side.)
  6. Use the negative cut of the 3.5" heart to rub ink around the shape. Use dauber and rub from outer to inner. (be sure to cover any area that you do not want the ink to touch)
  7. Stamp the sentiment to the left of your heart shape.
  8. Stamp sentiment to the Grey oval. Center & adhere grey B&T oval onto the black oval.
  9. Construct the small envelope. You can see visual instructions to the small envelope on my card front
    from my Valentines Love Board at my Pinterest Page   (I did not ink edges of the envelope)
  10. Add your small ribbon around the envelope. (I used a small piece of tape to hold ribbon on back side of envelope-made it easier to tie and make the small bow.)
  11. Add a few of the various size hearts to the open area of the envelope flap, tuck a few into envelope. (this is where I used my tweezers)
  12. Adhere the larger hearts to the 4 corner squares be sure to center them.
  13. Adhere the black layer onto the card front centering it.
  14. Pop dot the Rectangle and center it over the striped strip, centered between the 4 squares.
  15. Pop dot the envelope onto the rectangle & grey layer (be sure your glitter is dry).
  16. Pop dot the oval onto the rectangle and the grey layer.
  17. Edge the heart shape Dimensional Element in Vineyard Berry Ink. Sponge lightly a little light grey ink on top of the heart. Then, stamp it with a designed heart shape over the grey
  18. Add the Heart shaped Dimensional Element to the striped strip and the gems around it. Also, I added a gem to the center of the ribbon on envelope.
  19. Add a few smaller hearts to the grey base as if they are falling out of the envelope.

Entered this Card in the  DJ's Sundries Challenge,
This looks like a lot to this card but, once I figured out the measurements, It was really easy. I went into more detail for those who do not do cards on a regular bases. I am still learning to do cards. I am learning as I go to mass produce too. I still prefer to scrapbook and do 3-D paper crafts and some other crafts. I made 3 of these so far in different colors with different sentiments.  Share them on my Card tab at a later date...some of the receivers tend to look at my blog.....Don't want them to guess what they are receiving for V-DAY.
 Hopefully by doing cards I can use up most of these scraps in my large bin and in my stash bags...
SEE....told you I had a lot of scraps...
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you will leave me a crafty comment and take a moment to browse my blog.

Part 2 of ... Many Scraps of Blue~Monochromatic projects

Hello everyone,
Sorry I did not get this out as fast as I thought I would have. That awful bug got a hold on me and I was pretty much grounded to my bedroom for more than a few days. Needless to say, I still had our GIRLS DAY OUT projects to work on too. It wasn't the flu, but what ever it was it took me down like a lead weight in pudding. I still have a trace of energy loss and the slight cough, but, I am so much better than I was a few days ago. Hope you all are doing fine and well. I pray you do not get this bug.

Our Girls Day Out 12 Hour Crop/Craft went well. Had many crafters there and I saw many kinds of projects. I have a few pictures to share of that event at a later date. Thank you to all who came out. And our team members were Super with their talents that they shared during their
Workshops, and Make-N-Takes.
Our next one will be April 27, 2013. Hope you can join us. The website for the next event will be updated soon. In the mean time if you would like to check what we do, go by and visit the blog at  http://memphisareascrapbookers.blogspot.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's the latest monochromatic blues I worked on. All items are left over from paper packages or left over products from other projects. I really had fun playing around with my scraps and coming up with this little ditty. Hubby doesn't know it...But, I will give it to him with a special pic of him and our beautiful grandson. He can put this on his desk. It's not too fru-fru and it's in many shades of blue.
 Here are some of  the supplies used in this project
1 cube left over from the  My Creations Collage Cubes
Lots of CTMH blue shades from the B&T papers from Magnifique,
Dreamin, & Cherry-O.
Once the project is finished you really can't see each different design.
I used 4 - 2" x 2" Squares in Sky Blue c.s. for the sides.
2 - 2" x 2" squares in Denim for the top & Bottom of the cube.
I adhered the squares with my Bonding Memories Glue Pen.
I sealed the edges with the liquid glass, used very little so it would not run.
Here you see where I stamped each monogram letter on the different blue papers and then used the 1.25" CTMH Circle Punch.  This punch and stamp set coordinate well together. Also, If I were doing many of these, The stamp set also coordinates with the CTMH Cricut Artiste Cartridge. You could cut all 26 Monogram letter bases in no time on the Cricut and stamp the images so easily.
Here I used the Martha Stewart anywhere decorative scallop circle punch to cut the
white outer center. I used our CTMH 2" Scallop Circle Punch to cut the background base.
I adhered the decorative scallop circle on top of the dark blue scallop circle.
Then I pop dotted the Monogrammed Circle in the center of each.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then I adhered these to the sides of the block with Liquid Glass.
and also one on the top (without a monogram stamp).
I took one of my clips that had a button base, bent the clip upward
attached to the center of the top circle (no monogram in center)
I did hold this one for a few minutes while the Liquid Glass dried.
I added my Glitter Glitz Gel around the button base to give more
sturdiness to the clip. I also added the Stardust Glitter Glitz Gel
to the openings of the decorative scallop circle to give it a
bit of glitz and bling.

I also added the Stardust Glitter Glitz Gel to the
Monogram Letters to help each letter of the word
 LOVE stand out a little more.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 To add a little more sheen to the sides, I used my
CTMH Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint. This picture does not
do it justice, but the shimmer with the glitter from
the letters does shine.  Now, I just need to print the perfect picture
of my grandson with grandpa to add to the clip for my
Hubby to enjoy when he works at his desk.
Entered into the following challenges
          Their outing of the backseat Oreo mess,            Reading nap time story,
                                                or the Ultimate Grandpa Kisses
Choices....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Done with the Blue Monochromatic and ready to go to
a new shade. I'll be playing in my craft room later
this week. I wonder what my mood will swing to
 Purples, Pinks, or Greens. Who knows!!!
Would love to hear your crafty comments on this little ditty.
Thank you for taking time to stop by and check out
different areas of my blog. Let me know you have
stopped by and I will come by to visit your blog too.
Have a wonderful rest of your week and may
your upcoming weekend be filled with crafty Happiness
